Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius
The Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius is situated in the centre of Sergiyev Posad — a town of Moscow Oblast, which is located 85 kilometers from Moscow. The monastery bears the name of highly regarded St. Sergius of Radonezh. Ostankino Tower
You are not afraid of heights. So, you will definitely enjoy a tour on the 540-meter Ostankino Tower or just Ostankino. It is the highest freestanding structure in Europe. It was the world’s tallest structure from 1975 to 2007. Ostankino now hold the 4th place after the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Canton Tower in Guangzhou and CN Tower in Toronto.
No building in the world can match Ostankino Tower in its importance for society, use of inner area, technical and functional power, and equipment.
The tower is a grandiose building that has 45 relative floors, observation desks at the level of 337 and 340 meters, tens of ring-type areas and balconies. The inner amount is over 70 thousand cubic meters, the useful floor area totals over 15 thousand square meters.
Tours take place in any weather. You will be warned of visibility distance beforehand.
The tour includes:
- the story of the building process, architectural features and technical capacity of the tower;
- lifting in high-speed elevators up to the sightseeing platform (337 meters) and viewing panorama of Moscow;
- the story of sights and architectural dominants of Moscow;
- free time;
- access to the open sightseeing platform (340 meters), tickets are required (under favorable weather conditions).
You have an opportunity to get acquainted with the exposition of the Television and Radio Broadcasting Museum in the tower lobby. You will see unique 3D-photos shot by cosmonaut Sergej Krikaljov.
The cost of the tour
Access to the closed sightseeing desk for one person:
- adults — 980 rubles;
- children under 18 years of age and students — 490 rubles.
Morning tours in working days (Monday-Friday) at 10:00 and 11:00:
- adults — 600 rubles;
- children under 18 years of age and students — 300 rubles.
The open sightseeing platform is available only under favorable weather conditions in summer season from May to October.
The tours starts every hour from 10:00 (the first tour) to 21:00 (the last tour). You can buy tickets before the tour session at the ticket office of the Ostankino Tower.
